フリーメール切手-Freemailstamps-は、
実際に日本で使用できる切手である。

手紙でのコミュニケーションもメールでのコミュニケーションも基本的には同じである。
「メールだと手紙よりも印象がきつく捉えられる」
「また誤解が多くなり、やりとりが多くなる。」
など短所が取り上げられる事が多いが、
それは新しいツールの特徴が明らかになったに過ぎない。

手紙は手紙の作法があり、届くのに時間がかかるなど短所もある。
ただ、手描きの印象からその人の感情が届きやすいものあるのも確かである。
メールも絵文字やその文化を発展され、精査されていく事で、また変わっていく。

手紙と同じコミュニケーションツールに過ぎない。

それを「フリーメール」という実際には、インターネットと使う事で
料金が発生しているから完全な無料ではないのだが、
技術の進歩によって可能になったメールが無料という事もひとつのインターネットの文化として捉えて、
合わせる事が一番現在を如実に表すことになるのではないかと思い、
モチーフとして選択した。

“Free Mail Stamp”

“Free Mail Stamp” is a postage stamp that you can actually use in Japan.

Communication using post mail and using e-mail is basically the same. Though demerits such as “E-mail give a severe impression than post mail”, “E-mail cause more misunderstanding and increase the number of exchanges”, and etc. are often said, but it is no more than the feature of the new tool becoming apparent.

Post mail has its own manners and demerit like it often takes time for one to receive a delivery. But it is certain that the impression of handwritten character help to indicate feelings. Even e-mail will change along with the development and investigation of emoji and its culture.

E-mail is just a same communication tool as post mail.

In actuality, “free e-mail / free mail” is not entirely free since it requires internet system to mail and connection fee will be charged while in use. But regarding this situation, that one can use e-mail free by the grace of technological development, as one of the internet culture and combining it may represent the present situation realistically — with this idea, I’ve selected postage stamp as the motif of this piece.
